In Goed dat jij bestaat! (Good That You Exist!) , Johnny embraces the security of bourgeois existence and allows the influence of the women in his life to flow into the resilience of fatherhood. But it also chafes: he shines a magnifying glass on taboos with boundary-respecting audacity. Where does that invisible tipping point lie between the celebrated pushing of boundaries and the despicable crossing of boundaries? And why do we rush to help when someone has a broken leg, but run away as fast as we can when that same person says the voices in his head won’t leave him alone?
