Gershwin Bonevacia

A musical monologue about returning seventeen. In this performance, Gershwin Bonevacia explores what it means to live in an in-between space — not here, not there, but somewhere in the tension in between.

You follow a young man who makes the crossing to Curaçao seventeen times. Braves the ocean seventeen times, arrives and departs seventeen times. Each return a different attempt to get a grip on the man he was, who he is, and who he wants to become. Each time with the hope that this is the journey on which he finally finds what he seeks.

Gershwin shows that coming home sometimes means daring to leave, and that fleeing might well be a form of searching. And that to heal, you must dare to lose. Created in collaboration with Podium Mozaïek.
