Dutch Classical Talent
The Martin String Quartet explores the string quartet as a medium in all its contradictions. They take you from the rawness and complexity of Gubaidulina to the harmony of Bach, from the inventiveness of Ori Ron to the festive exuberance of Beethoven. A journey of four musicians towards one whole, a circle.
The Martin String Quartet was founded in October 2023 at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. The quartet studies with Dmitry Ferschtman, Sven Arne Tepl, and Judith van Driel and is a member of the Netherlands String Quartet Academy. They have participated in masterclasses with members of the London Haydn, Jerusalem, Casals, and Berg Quartets. In 2024, they won first prize and the Grachtenfestival Prize at the Gelre International Chamber Music Competition. The quartet made its debut at the Concertgebouw in March 2025 with works by contemporary composers. Finalists of Dutch Classical Talent 2026/2027.
Dutch Classical Talent (formerly ‘the Vriendenkrans Concours’ and ‘Het Debuut’) is a household name as a talent development program in the Dutch classical music world. Through auditions, a professional jury selects four top talents who develop within a coaching program and tour the fourteen largest concert halls in the Netherlands. Their programs are stimulating, contemporary, moving, and spectacular.
