Diggy Dex
This autumn, Diggy Dex is going on tour with his theatre show De Zoektocht Naar Geluk (The Search for Happiness). Together with his regular guitarist René van Mierlo, the rapper, singer, and songwriter seeks answers to ‘the big and small questions of life’.
In his new theatre show, Diggy Dex takes the audience on his personal journey of discovery. Dex: “Where exactly does happiness lie? In love? In parenthood? In success? In friendship? In music? In connection? I have been trying to find the words for that for years. From the first lyrics I wrote as a teenager, right through to songs like Treur Niet (Ode Aan Het Leven) , La Vie Est Belle, and De Zon Op : all my songs are a quest for meaning and happiness.”
Whereas Diggy Dex previously usually performed on stage with a band, on tour he takes only his regular guitarist René van Mierlo with him. Dex:
“I am looking forward to playing in a small, intimate setting. In recent years, we have mainly played in larger venues and festivals. That was great, because playing with the full band always gives a lot of energy. But now it feels good to go a bit ‘smaller’ again. On this tour, there is even more room for the story behind the songs. I am really looking forward to that.”
Diggy Dex
Diggy Dex (Koen Jansen) made his debut in the music industry as a hip-hop artist in 2006. He has always remained faithful to the hip-hop genre, but at the same time also explored other musical paths. In 2016, he released his platinum album Golven , followed by Karavaan (2018), Carrousel (2021), and Tempo Giusto (2025). He has over half a million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Diggy Dex has undertaken twelve club and theater tours, including four sold-out shows at Carré and two at AFAS Live. He has also performed in countless open-air theaters and at festivals throughout the Netherlands. In 2020, he participated in the TV program Beste Zangers. He is part of the successful group The Streamers and is a regular guest at Vrienden van Amstel Live . Additionally, Diggy Dex co-writes songs for a wide range of artists such as Guus Meeuwis, André Hazes Jr., 3JS, Kinderen voor Kinderen, Miss Montreal, Van Velzen, Trijntje Oosterhuis, and Suzan & Freek.
This year, Diggy Dex created the official Team NL anthem for the Winter Olympics in Milan together with the Italian artist Adriana: Omhoog (Come Va) .
