Esther van der Voort

In a painfully humorous way, comedian Esther van der Voort discovers what is truly important in life. As a single mother of four children, daily life is a rollercoaster—until Mom can’t take it anymore and gets angry.

Esther is a single mom, former civil servant, and comedian who discovers, in a painfully humorous way, what is truly important in life. With four children, it continues daily: an endless torrent of questions. Mom, where is my hockey stick? What time is it? What are we having for dinner?

How did she end up in this situation? Life seems like a series of unmade choices. Why did she get married? How did she get that dog? What is she going to do with this job? Why did she say “Okay, we’ll have another child” when choosing a bank can take two years?

Sometimes it all gets too much for Esther. Then Mom is angry. Angry at her children, at her ex, at the girl behind the cash register, at her navigation system, at her boss—but most of all: angry at herself.
