Begin Again

In a world where the usefulness of humanity is called into question, a mother pleads for a world without ego. BEGIN AGAIN is a compelling music theatre performance about letting go, transformation, and the ecological perspective.

In the sensory, musical performance BEGIN AGAIN, award-winning interdisciplinary art collective BrotherTill and writer Lisa Weeda once again push the boundaries of theater. BEGIN AGAIN revolves around one existential conviction: we must let go of something fundamental to move forward.

Can we leave entrenched hierarchies behind and place the ecological perspective above humanity? The mother, an activist and inventor, found an all-knowing stone deep within the earth. Her son is a sculptor. While she envisions a new world, he stubbornly clings to his view of humanity.

Upon entry, everyone is given a stone. What follows is a whirlwind farewell: a mix of hypertechnology, compelling music, and an intensely human experience. The audience finds itself in the middle of the story. The hall hums. The stones sing: liberate us, the end of humanity must begin.

BEGIN AGAIN is the second part of the human-technology trilogy by BrotherTill and Lisa Weeda. The first part, DANS DANS REVOLUTIE, earned them the Designer’s Prize at the Nederlands Theater Festival and a nomination for a Golden Calf.
