Rob Kemps

Rob Kemps

The greatest chansonnier of all time is not a Frenchman. He is a Belgian from Flanders who spoke French. A man from Schaarbeek, who left hearth and home to achieve world fame in Paris. After that, he wandered the world, only to finally find his rest via Berlin, Moscow and New York on an island deep in the Pacific Ocean. He spent his final days on Hiva Oa. And that is also where he is buried.

For Rob Kemps, it is clear: Jacques Brel is the greatest of all. After the success of Hemel op aarde, the subject for his next programme was already set. In Laat me niet alleen, Rob now takes us across the world. In the footsteps of Brel. With as much humour as emotion, he talks about the music and, above all, the life of his hero. And with that, also about his own life. Rob has no other choice. Because a life without Brel is no life at all.

Rob Kemps is an entertainer and writer, known from Snollebollekes and the TV programme Chansons!. His fascination with the Père-Lachaise cemetery led to the successful theatre show Hemel op aarde, in which he, as an impassioned storyteller, takes the audience along stories full of history and personal memories. That left him wanting more – so he is back with his new show Laat me niet alleen.
